Help. Trying to remember an old TV serial from the 70's.

Hi.

I have distant memories of a TV series from the 70's about a young girl and boy who get involved in the Monmouth Rebellion in the late 17th C.
I seem to remember that they befriend a dutch gunner, who looks after them and helps them. I can't remember if their parents are killed or if they are lost and trying to find them.
I have a feeling it was made by South West TV for ITV at the time and I think it may have been shown on Sunday afternoons, possibly.
I've tried to find it online but without a title it gets complicated.
If anyone could help, or give me a title to go on, or point me in the right direction, I would be grateful.
