Children's sci-fi TV programme - obscure

Hi all,

I've searched the forum and cannot find anything resembling this memory. I hope someone can help.

I remember the show having a satellite/aerial type thing which opened up and did something. Maybe it emitted light or something. I remember it being on a roof or something.

I remember it being shown on a Saturday in the late 80s, maybe early 90s.

Hmm.

Sorry about the vagueness. My memory is so patchy!

Just wondered, could it be Children of the Dog star.
There was a flower shaped part of a spacecraft on the roof of the building the children obtained. Have a feeling the program was Australian.

Amazing! That's the one - I just checked on YouTube. I know it freaked me out a little and that's why I loved the show :P

It was a New Zealand production - and it's available on DVD now as well - I loved it back then...
