70s/80s Kids drama show about plague

Vague memories of this, maybe some kind of Black Death related thing.

(It's not "The Mad Death", about a rabies outbreak).

I seem to recall markings or hand prints on the outside of house that had dead plague victims inside, and some rather forrest-ey locations.

Not sure whether it was a period piece or set in current times.

Anyone remember something similar?

Could be the Bells Of Astercote. It was shown on BBC in about 1980.
