I've everything I need to keep me satisfied
There's nothing you can do to make me change my mind

I knew it was a different company George, but Meridian 'took over' the broadcasting that TVS had done previously, hence why I used the word 'taken over' in that context, didn't realise you would be policing my terminology
They took over the ITV franchise for the south of England and not the company.
The phrase "taken over" could mean the fact that one company was to own another which was not the case.

Oh George, this is getting silly now, as I said above I meant they had 'taken over' the broadcasting in the south from TVS, which is totally correct, I did not state they had 'taken over the company'

You're right - it is getting silly. It sounded to me as if you said that they had taken over the company.
They took over broadcasting from TVS on 1st January 1993.
I think that we will leave it at that.

I remember "Day by Day" and then "Coast to Coast". Not sure whether they were Southern and TVS, or TVS and Meridian. Cliff Michelmore and Mike Debens presented.
Day By Day was Southern and Cliff Michelmore presented during its final year.
Coast to Coast was TVS and Mike Debens was a presenter in the South East (Maidstone).
And of course, it was succeeded with Meridian Tonight when they had replaced TVS.

If TVS had survived then it would have merged with LWT. The two companies had a friendly relationship in the mid 1980s which is why a significant proportion of networked TVS programmes were shown at weekends.
I cannot believe my eyes. BROADCAST QUALITY programmes from TVS
Somebody has saved the video tapes from the attic in the Maidstone Studios. Rumours were that they were dumped in a skip during refurbishment of the studios in the early 2000s.
