  • It's a Knockout

It's a Knockout was like a school sports day hosted by Eddie Waring & Stuart Hall

I was in the audience in '69 when they filmed it in Pitville Park in Cheltenham uk

Do you really believe the other side without provocation would launch so many ICBM's, subs and ships knowing that we would have no option to launch as well? It would break our MAD Treaty (Mutually Assured Destruction) not to mention the end of the world as we know it.

I loved that show, particularly when the heats were over and it went pan-European--the Germans always seemed to be so much more professional than our lads and lasses. The games were much more higher budget and spectacular when all the countries were competing. Remember that if you fancied your chances in a particular event you could play your joker and double your points? In my mind it was shown on either friday or saturday evening...friday I think, which was a great way of starting your weekend.
