Re: Chocky's Children
Must re-read some of the Wyndham stuff I have..thought about starting a SF thread, but I'm not up to speed..
My favorite SF authors are the ones that have a ground in fact,or normality.
Currently re-reading the great "Flow my tears, the Policeman said" by the fantastic Phillip K Dick. I love the way his stories were all future but the world seemed normal. No massive jargon, it was alway earth, but slightly different.
which is why so many of his fantastic short stories have been fleshed out to full movies..so much detail in so few words.
It would explain my love of Gary numan, too, as he seriously stole ideas and images for Burroughs,Dick and Ballard on all his early albums.
(I wish he still did,as I can't stand this God/devil thing he is into now)
Asimov never did it for me,but the three I mentioned still get me going..
Anyone got any other ideas of what I may like??
(and NO,I draw the line at Tolkien,I DON'T read Terry Prachett,etc..)
(although I did read TP's Dark side of the Sun,which was ok )
