1970's sci fi mocumentary

Does anyone out there remember a sci fi spoof done by either the bbc or itv in the late 70's or maybe the early 80's about people getting taken to mars to build and start life on the red planet. the program was done as a documentary and many people watching at the time belived the program, others were unsure. it made the newspapers the next day which reveald it as a hoax. any info on the program which will help me find it would be great. thanks.
