  • US series 70s sinister whistling intro playground

Anyone remember a BW series which opened with a sinister whistling tune in a deserted playground ( a bit ckliched, but effective)?

I think the hero investigated various happenings in the neighbourhood and had a dubious neighbour (who may have been the devil?) - I have vague memories of the into including a scene where a car tries to run the hero down driven by someone actually dressed as a traditional devil!

Kolchak: the Night Stalker is my guess

wasn't in B/W,but then it won't have been in the 70's..maybe you just had a B/W tv set

He was always battling a Devil or Demon/vampire,etc and had a whistling theme
(was a huge influence on the X-Files producers)

I think part of the answer at least is that the whistling intro was Journey into the Unknown a Brit series of 1968 made by Hammer.
