This one's a bit strange - man who grows angel wings then devils horns!!?

Ok guys,

This one is a bit strange, but the things you see when your a kid really do stick in your head.
I remember watching a television/movie programme about an oldish man who grows angel wings and can fly, but then later, they fall off and he starts getting horns!!! weird, I know, but its true.

I think it might have been some sort of NZ or Australian series because all I remember is that he jumps off a a mountain over a forest and flies. Also the clothing was turn of the century working class.
It was on roughly in the 80's (I think).
I remember that the programme was very dark and moody, but thats all.

Anyone with information on this weird, strange programme?

It's "Mr Pye", starring Derek Jacobi, based on the book by Mervyn Peake. It was on Channel 4 in the late 80s, I think.
