Name this TV movie

Saw it in early eighties but it semed a few years old then so it was prob made a lot sooner: -

Cop who takes bribes and is also a wife beater
The wife is secret alcoholic and shop lifter
Eventually he tries to kill her cos she plans to grass him

I just can't think of it's name!!!

In a brilliant piece of mis-casting the two are played by Captain Kirk and Mrs Walton

Any ideas?
