Trying to find name of 70s ghost drama!

I remember when I was a child, about 9, staying up late and seeing a tv drama about a haunted house. The main character was a boy about my age and he kept seeing ghosts. I particularly remeber a scene where he was sitting up in bed cowering under his sheet, terrified, as what I remember as a faceless "jester" sitting astride him.

I remember being terrified as well and it has always stayed with me.

Does anyone know what it was called?

Hi There are a few possible ones I can think of but I'm not sure I'm on the right track.

There was Ghost of Motley Hall, Rentaghost had a jester in it, but they were both Childrens TV so probrably not on that late.

The first episode of Sapphire & Steel had a couple of children being terrified by ghosts while trying to get to sleep. That one scared me for years.

Or could it be one of the Hammer House of Horror TV episodes?
