One scene only remembered in a Sitcom

This is real obscure, I got a memory of a Sitcom (UK) and all I remember is a running gag .

Whenever the bloke came in he picked up the hall phone and let it dangle to untwist the cord

Full stop! All I recall !!

70's / 80's / 90's ?

Who it was ?

I loved EDC..classic sitcom.
I still use 'catchphrases' from that show to this day..I.E The EDC kiss..
most don't have a clue what I'm talking about, but those that do, give a knowing smile
