Help with 70s/80s tv

Hi can anybody help with the title of a 70s/80s kids tv show.

All i can remember is that it was about a town full of children being invaded by pylons that walked.sounds strange i know but i ended up with a deep routed fear of plyons and anything metal after that.

Dont know how you managed to find this as i have been searching for ages. I was beginning to think i was dreaming and made the series up!!!
Thanks for finding it, if it comes back on tv again i will definitely watch it and hopefully get over my fear of PYLONS!!!!
