Hi all,
Over time, I have quite successfully found out the names of many of the series I loved as a kid but had forgotten the names of. In Australia after school we pretty much got UK, US and Aussie stuff so it was a good mix. But there is one show I just can't find anything out about.
I would have been 8 years old when I saw it (so 1977) and I only ever remember seeing this series twice. It scared me and had a very sinister feel about it. Here's what remember:
- 1970s, probably Australian but can't be sure
- Teenage kids trying to find out why Olympians/athletes were disappearing
- Vague memory of the kidnapped athletes being turned to stone?!
- Weird group of 'baddies. Pale skinned themselves, evil scientist
- I was scared of seeing the needle they would inject athletes with...which turned them to stone
- Distinctly remember one of the young bad guys being turned to stone himself by mistake in the end.
The plot line is odd indeed. This show left such an impression on me at the time and I never forgot it fully. Not a single person I have ever talked to my age can remember this show. Hope someone out there remembers it
