Barry Norman's Film show theme

hi everyone
In the 1970s, Barry Norman's presented a Film review show called Film '77.
does anyone remember the name of the theme music. i think its quite a famous jazz piece.

I think the one you mean is 'I Wish I knew How it Would Feel to be Free'.

I love this piece of music. It was used right through the 80s and 90s too.

Hi kaz!

I'm not very keen on their version. This is going to sound pedantic, but right near the beginning of each phrase, on the second "I", (I wish I ...), and in that place throughout the song, there is supposed to be a chord change that The Lighthouse Family completely leave out! It may be because I play the piano that I notice it but it bugs me every time.

I like the song best when sung by a huge gospel choir, but the ones like that on the first few pages of YouTube are not very good. I'm on the hunt for a decent version and will do a link when I find one.

i love the Film show version but not to keen on the others. its the sound of that piano that gets me!

is the Film version by Billy Taylor as well?
i checked him out youtube. the version he plays here is much slower

Anyoe heard the Jools Holland version? I saw him play it on the hootenanny some while back and fancied getting a copy, but I don't think it was ever released. As my old man says, "that boy can't half play the joanna".
