70's Children's Serial BBC (I think)

I have a memory of a 70's Children's serial which I think was on the BBC in the early 70's. It was set somewhere in contemporary 70's Britain and involved two girls one in a wheelchair. I think one of the girls older brother was missing and there were people in silver suits (aliens?) who appeared from nowhere.

Anyone have any ideas?

Hello again, 6 years after posting the original question I can actually answer it myself. The serial was Mandog from 1972, so I would have been around 3 when I saw the little fragment that I remembered.
The first episode is on YouTube but is of very poor quality a search for 'Mandog' should find it.
