Please help with a scary 70's kids tv programme

Hi there,

this has been driving me nuts for days!

I remember seeing a kids tv programme back in the 70's, around tea-time on a weekday. All I remember is that a couple of kids were trapped in a house by some stones that kept getting closer. I seem to recall the kids looking out of a bedroom window at night-time and seeing the stones getting closer and closer.

It was really scary for a young viewer!

Does anyone have any idea of the name of the series?

This was "Escape into Night", based on the book "Marianne Dreams" by Catherine Storr, which was also the basis for the late 80s movie "Paperhouse".

Thanks for the replies! I'll have to get the DVD series when it comes out, and also try and track down Paperhouse.

You are definitely thinking of "Children of the Stones" - I remember it freaked it me out A LOT!!!! I now have the whole thing on DVD - I bought that a couple of years ago from Amazon or CD-WOW I think. Even now it freaks me a bit.

It might also have been the MIND BEYOND episode entitled "Stones", starring Richard Pasco. Or an episode of SKY. It seemed that in the late 70s, you couldn't move for cult TV film crews round Avebury and Chanctonbury Ring...
