When we were kids me and my brothers used to love Baggy Pants & the Nitwits, also remember a short cartoon called LUDWIG about an egg with legs, remember it being really odd.

I don't know whether it has ever been shown on any UK channels but Nu Pogodi is a great cartoon from Russia. There is very little dialogue so you aren't missing out on what's being said but it's all about Volk ( a cheeky smoking wolf) who is always trying to catch Zayats (a hare). There is quite a bit of slapstick, maybe not quite as extreme as Tom and Jerry but it's very funny and the soundtracks are brilliant. It took me ages but I managed to get a region 2 DVD of all the episodes from a seller in the Ukraine.
