    Re: Dallas

Sighhhhh.... Friday night was not Friday night without a Hungry Man dinner and Dukes of Hazzard and Dallas on the tube. And besides, Victoria Principal (Pam) was such a babe!

I loved watching 'Dallas' and then there was the spin off as well 'Knots Landing'........lip gloss, big shoulders, hairdo's that took a whole can of hair spray, teeth that were so white you had to turn the brightness down on your set..........ohhhh heaven

        Re: Dallas

The prog wasn't the same once Jim Davis sadly died. I found him funny to watch. I series 1 - 3 he had a really relaxed style of acting. I liked how he was actually better dressed than J.R. ever was but wished he was still in charge of Ewing Oil instead of J.R. He could be a bit of an obstinate and stubborn man but he was cool. Had some funny sayings like 'how about a little spot?' i.e. a large Whisky or to 'tie one on!' meaning drink a lot with friends. I can see how he contracted the skin cancer that would sadly lead to the end of his life as he was incredibly tanned during series 1 - 3.

His best line ever was when he put Bobby in his place in front of J.R. saying:

'Real power isn't something you give....You TAKE it!'. Summed him up perfectly.

I can see how after his death the show slowly introduced Howard Keel to take over the role in a sense, the tough cowboy turned oil baron. Still, he was a class actor on the show and it would have been good if J.R. had been more closely modelled on him so that once Davis had gone Hagmans character could have filled that role not only as the ruthless, evil, coniving businessman but as the uses his fists if he had to type too.

It was Kirsten. Sue Ellen's vile sister whodunnit.

She then died. Lol. Cliff Barnes finds a body in the Southfork pool, dives in. See's J.R. appear on the balcony above and says JR killed her....that was the next season cliffhanger. The writers were a bit weak saying she was high on methamphetamine and fell in and drowned; weird because at no point had Kirsten ever been written as a drug user...

After that whole series was just a dream, I seem to recall they had to re-introduce in the following series characters they wanted to keep.

                  yep sure did.

from what i remember there was an outcry for bobby to be brought back thats why they did it.
But after they did it they said its ruined the previous season/series.

I too remember Dallas well and loved it. I'm watching the repeats on CBS. Katherine Wentworth has just joined the cast. JR has to be one of the best characters ever.
