This'll Stump You!

Actually, I hope this doesn't stump you because I've been wanting to know the name of this animated feature for ages.

Problem is, all I can remember is the end of it . The cartoon ends with this little boy in a land where a giant lives and the whole place is covered in snow and it actually turns out he is in heaven. I think one of the last lines said by the giant to the little boy is "Now you can live with me forever in paradise." Or words to that effect.

I saw this in the mid 70s I think and have not seen it since. Apart from the heaven aspect I don't recall it being in any way religious.

That's all I have I'm afraid. Fingers crossed we can bust this.

Heck! I've actually found it.

It's called 'The Selfish Giant', written by Oscar Wilde. And the cartoon (1971) is actually on YouTube! Wow!

I got it wrong - it was the little boy who said to the giant "today you will join me in my garden which is paradise", Not the other way round. The little boy was the Christ Child.

It says it was regualrly shown up until 1987 but I only recall ever seeing it once.

Well, I never.
