  • 80's kids show

    Hi guys

Searched the forums but couldnt find it and this has been bugging me for ages.
I'm gonna be vague as I dont remember too much of it.

The program was shown in the mid 80's, I think it was European, most likely Italian, also maybe English dubbed and I'm sure there was a clear English narration throughout parts of the show too.
The main character was a young boy, and I know there was an evil villain hot on his heels in his quest to find something?

To throw a spanner in the works, a mate vaguely knew what I was talking about and suggested the boy was searching for miniature models of the leaning tower of pisa, and each had a number on the underside, he could find these models using clues he's somehow gathered, and the villain is also trying to get these models too.
But unfortunately my mate couldnt remember what the program was called.

Ofcourse, most of the above could be totally irrelevant but for some reason they seem like the program in question

This next bit is pretty sure fire, as its probably the most distinctive part of the show. Every so often when the kid comes up to a clue (and generally inbetween scenes), a multicoloured 3D question mark symbol fills the screen in a black background for about 2 or 3 seconds. Presumably for the teacher to pause the show and ask questions

For a child watching, it was pretty edge of your seat stuff and couldnt wait for the next episode. Well I couldnt

It was shown in primary school, so not sure if its part of some sort of curriculum in those days or just a way to kill time

Anyone know what the show was called please?

    Thanks in advance

perhaps it was a learn italian show on something like open university, or one of those early learning programmes often shown on bbc 2 early in the morning, i believe the program your looking for was one of them, i do remember something about a boy collecting models with numbers on them, and if i`m not mistaken i believe as well as teach italian they also explained a little about it`s history during the series, i think it came in twenty parts.

      Thanks Flipper

It was a pretty short series so 20 parts sounds about right.
Unfortunately I dont think the Italian language was involved and at the time it just looked like the program was shot in Italy, although I do think the English narration did teach us about some sort of history.

I also think it was on BBC2 at the time.

      Argh! The name eludes me

I think the show you're talking about is Interbang.
