  • Disastrous Newsreading Debut

Maybe twenty years ago or more on either BBC's "Look North" or YTV's "Calendar" (sorry I can't be more specific) I saw a young female presenter make an absolute Horlicks of her first attempt at reading the news. Not just the odd glitch, but continually missing cues, getting things in the wrong order, mis-pronouncing words, etc. At one point she slumped theatrically in the chair, rolled her eyes, and let out an enormous "Thank God that's over" sigh, only to freeze in absolute horror when she realised the cameras were still rolling and there was still one item left to do. A total mess from start to finish, and I've never seen anything remotely like it on telly before or since. Can anyone else remember, or shed more light on it? Thanks.
Still crazy after all these years.

I seem to recall Marylyn Webb making a pretty disastrous debut but that would have been more than twenty years ago.
