  • When The Boat Comes In

Didn't really watch this series with James Bolam in the seventies, but, 30yrs later, I have been watching the repeat series on 'Yesterday Channel' - I have a friend who is from Newc'asl and he says the language is old Geordie, ...when I asked him if he speaks 'New Geordie' he says, 'way-aye', but it's all the same to me.
Anyone watch this series then or now??

I have vague memories of watching this on a Friday night in the 70's.

I caught an episode on Yesterday this morning and quite enjoyed it. I'd describe the accents as Northumbrian rather than Geordie.

Yep, I remember it being on ABC in Australia on Sunday nights when I was about 6 in the 70s. The theme tune is still stuck in my head. Would like to see it now as back then all I remember was a show that was grey and depressing.

I remember this series very well. Did you know that it was on this show that James Bolan met his wife to be - Susan Jameson. She played his love interest in the show. I don't know if either of them already had partners when they met. Incidentally, they are both in New Tricks on BBC and Susan plays Esther, the wife of the downtrodden character played by Alun Armstrong. I know some ****!
