  • Boy Scouts v Villains + cricket balls

Trying to remember a drama on TV in the 1970s where a group of Boy scouts or
Rangers foil some sort of plot by bank robbers or villains.

    Can't remember many details.

Set in the countryside and House
Group of young Rangers or Scouts (One fat boy in the group)
They used cricket balls in the final showdown
    Probably shown 7pm - 8pm ish

Oh yes and the Theme music was the leningrad symphony

This bit of the Symphony was used as the intro (about 1 min in)

Might it have been the adaptation of John Buchan's Huntingtower, which had the ragged group of scouts called the Gorbals Die-hards?

Well I read a few pages from the book didn't reconise the story line but when I checked IMDB one of the reviews included this

The music is memorable - I think from one of Shostakovich's symphonies ...I watched this with my children and it is one of those series where the adults enjoy the show as much as or more than the children. ....One of the finest BBC children's serials eve.

So that all fits - Amazing - Well remembered.

        Thankyou so very much..
