'it was a very good year'

Ok...I think this was late 70s or early 80s...
There was an anti-smoking commercial (seemed to be a lot of those)...and this song was the background music...and it showed a man starting to smoke, getting older, going thru life, smoking...then dying. (from smoking)...
I really want to get my hands on that commercial--show it to my daughter...
It had a BIG impact on me...the song was haunting.....

I remember one about a man sat in a chair thinking "it was a good day" (possibly something to do with horses or dogs) and then he falls asleep with a fag in his hand and a newspaper on his knee and it finishes with the newspaper starting to smoulder.
