A lot of people were in uproar about that at the time if I remember correctly, but I must admit to have found it quite amusing tbh..........overblown tune (Earthsong?) by Click image for larger version

On this day in 1961 The Beatles appeared for the very first time at The Cavern Club, Liverpool. They went on to make a total of 292 other appearances there. I wonder if anyone in there that night said "Rubbish.... they will never amount to anything"

On this day in 1908 John Mills, English film and television actor, was born. He made more than 120 films in a career spanning seven decades. He often played traditionally British heroes and he was particularly associated with war dramas, such as The Colditz Story and Ice Cold in Alex . He won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor as the village idiot in Ryan's Daughter.

I added this because he was in my all time favourite film Ice cold in Alex

and just to keep this in the right time frame part of the film was used in an advert for Carlsberg in the 1980's

I was on a plane with him once (1974), not that I'd have known it .............we were flying to Los Angeles and people around us, including my mum and dad were saying "that's John Mills over there that is", didn't have a clue who they were talking about, I was only about 8

March fourth ( i.e. March forth!) is the only date in the calendar year that constitutes a sentence.

1969 The Kray twins, Ronald and Reginald, were found guilty of murder.

Shakin' Stevens was born on this day in 1948
