    the first nudist beach opened in Brighton.....apparently it was quite cold that day and there was a small showing....LOL couldn't resist that one.

    On this day in 1988 The Bank of England pound note, first introduced on 12th March 1797, ceased to be legal tender in Britain at midnight. When the deadline for returning old notes was reached, it was estimated that some 70 million were still outstanding.

    on this day in 1982 John Belushi died in Los Angeles of a drug overdose at the age of 33.

    on this day in 1993 Sprinter Ben Johnson was banned from racing for life by the Amateur Athletic Association after testing positive for banned performance-enhancing substances for a second time.

    I was on a plane with him once (1974), not that I'd have known it .............we were flying to Los Angeles and people around us, including my mum and dad were saying "that's John Mills over there that is", didn't have a clue who they were talking about, I was only about 8
