The Eurovision Song Contest came from Binyanei Ha'ouama Centre, Jerusalem.
    • Israel won for the second year running with "Hallelujah" sung by Milk and Honey; it scored 125 points.
    • The UK's entry was "Mary Ann" sung by Black Lace; it finished 7th with 73 points.
    • (Does anyone remember that song? Black Lace are much better remembered for "Aga-Doo" in 1984)
    • Norway did better than 1978: "Oliver" sung by Anita Skorgan finished 11th with 57 points.
    • No-one got nul-points; Belgium "Hey Nana" sung by Micha Marah and Austria "Heute In Jerusalem" sung by Christina Simon finished both joint last with 5 points.
