Re: Bank Holidays
I used to be bored stiff when a Bank Holiday came around - no shops open; Sunday service on buses; nothing to do. Just like a Sunday in a way.
At least there would be a James Bond or Superman film on the television (cue DFS and sales adverts in the commercial breaks) - and now they just put ordinary weekday programmes on now.
Mind you, as a snooker fan, at least we have the conclusion of the final at the Crucible on the May Day Bank Holiday, and my birthday falls on the August Bank Holiday if the 30th falls on a Monday, please note.
(I do a bit of travelling just before that day, such as visiting the Newlyn Fish Festival in Cornwall...)
And it's great when there is a Royal Wedding or a Queen's Jubilee that is an official Bank Holiday. A one off thing rather than an annual thing.
I suppose I find it less boring these days than I would have done so back in the 1980s.
Telling it almost exactly like it was so many years later - and proud of doing so!
