  • 'Planet of the Apes' figures

It would have been in the 1970s and around the time of the 'Planet of the Apes' TV series. I recall thinking the models were excellent, and I recently spoke to my mum who has a very good memory of our childhood toys. She said how she wishes we had kept them. She told me they were of very high quality, quite detailed and that their clothes were made of leather. Does anyone else remember these figures?

I had Galen or Cornelius as he was in the films and a soldier (one of Urko's men) and you are right about the quality. I also had a mask made from brown moulded plastic which was quite good.

That's a great link. Just brought back a load more memories. I had the mego batman and Robin, Koenig from Space 1999 and dr Who, Tardis, K9 and giant robot. Always preferred the palitoy talking dalek to the mego one though.

Re: 'Planet of the Apes' figures

I had Dr Zaius, Galen, Burke, Ursus and a soldier ape, as I recall. Great figures. And from the Denys Fisher Dr Who line, I had the Doctor, Leela and the TARDIS, plus the Palitoy talking Dalek. Most are long since gone, but I still have my Doctor (seen here with a friend). Even still got the box, somewhere...

My brother and I got a couple of these for Christmas one year, Dr Zaius and Cornelius/Galen I think. Still have the head of one of them knocking around at my mothers house somewhere?
