  • New release from Scalextric

If you want a really fast trip down memory lane, you'll want to check out the new release from Scalextric for 2010 - Scalextric World Rally! It's a complete starter set and has around 4m of fast fit track for a speedy set up and you can make four different circuits. The cars are super-tough and can be customised using decal sets. The skill levels can be individually set on the hand-held controllers which is ideal for children.

Recreate the thrills of rally championships the world over with this fantastic set from the original and only Scalextric - often copied but never bettered! 1:32 scale, lap length 4.3m.

For more information and photos, take a look at the Hawkins website

I must update my Scalextric. I've noticed that you can get some great retro cars for it now, including the Ford Escort Mk1, original Mini Cooper, Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and an Aussie Holden that looks similar to a Vauxhall Victor FE.

My Scalextric broke boxing day as a kid, the pinion on the motor of one of the cars shattered into two pieces. Still have the set in pretty much prestine condition, its no fun "racing" with one car!

Pinions breaking on Scalextric cars was a fairly common thing, I tried to have one spare around, pocket money permitting.

I had 2 complete sets, plus a fair amount of track & cars bought seperately. The last I heard it was still in my parents attic, though they have been known to chuck stuff away without asking me first.
