Always Marvel for me too. Started when my Mum brought me back a US copy of The Amazing Spider-Man when I was ill from school (probably with a bottle of orange sellophane wrapped Lucozade). Must have been sometime around '70-'71. Then I progressed onto the UK weekly reprints when The Mighty World of Marvel came out in '72 and jumped around all those different titles. I distinctly remember running around in the paper bag Spidey mask that came free with issue one of Spider-Man Comics Weekly.

I've tried keeping up with superhero comics nowadays but they're just not the same so I stick to '60s - '70s (with a tiny bit of early '80s where the X-Men are concerned).

Try the big Marvel 'Essential' digests. Great value

    One for comic fans

DC or Marvel? which was/is best? Growing up I thought Marvel Spidey,X-men, F4 etc had the coolest super heros however their stories lasted over 3/4 mags. The chances of you buying the next issue in your local newsagent in the 60/70's were less than zero, so DC comics Batman, Superman,Flash etc ususally won out for me where their mags contained a whole story

Although our choice is now greater with the ever increasing comic business(from specialist shops or the interweb) I very rarely buy comics these days for the same reason. The storys last several issues you can read one issue in about 2 mins( great graphics but one frame takes up a whole or even double page!!!) so I generally stick to the graphic novels or occasionally buy a batch of issues on the web.

Any thought from you web-heads out there?
