  • Fringe and buckle stompers?

What where 'fringe and buckle stompers' ?

They're mentioned in Johnny Reggae by the piglets ( 1971 I think ) but I got no idea what they looked like

At first I thought it must be Johnny Reggae's footwear but it says earlier in the song that he wears white baseball boots

Anyone got any notions or poss a pic of some 'fringe and buckle stompers' ?

I did wonder what they were, as well as 2 tone scribes.

I got Johnny Reggae, Ernie The Fastest Milkman In The West, Maggie May and my first (cardboard) record player for Christmas '71

I think the words are -'two tone tonic strides' (as in trousers).

You must remember these shoes, Danny if you were around in 1971. They were really popular. I bet you had a pair.
