I went to a Cornish school and in we went 1986 to Italy. On the ferry over we met a school of scousers! They were proper casualled up - Lyle and Scott, Lacoste, Sergio T, etc.

The best I could do was a pair of Hi-Tec Harriers (grey!) and my Patrick kagoule. It was very similar to the one in the pic.

Do you remember Patrick trainers on sale in littlewoods - not in boxes, but in pairs on hooks? No? Just me then!

I didn't have a Patrick one I had a black and grey Nike one. The Nike ones were more fashionable where I lived for some reason.

Patrick got a popularity boost after Kevin Keegan started wearing & plugging their football boots.

Originally they sent him a pair & he didn't like them, but they took this on board & made some based on his recommendations.

I had a black Adidas coat with the 3 white stripes down the sleeve. Most people in my year had some variety of Adidas coat although one or two had Patrick. Turqoise seemed to be popular.

How brands fall down eh? All Patrick are known for now is copycat trainers, cheap sportswear and Socks from JJB.

I got told when Velcro trainies came in, "Patrick Ocean" were decent in the 80's.

I never had a Patrick one but did have a Nike Windcheater (same colour too)



I wanted a blue one but they didn't have one in my size and as I "needed one now" I got the grey.
