Was anyone else here a New Romantic?

I was - and god was it embarassing as I look back. I found a piccie of me when I was 15 the other day.

Red hair - shaved on one side and long on the other.
Wearing chains.
Porkpie hat tilted off to one side.
Knee length skirt - tight to the knees - the full net frill like a tu tu on teh bottom.
Black and purple make up.

Good lord above - I hope my daughter never finds these pixs.

I was still in 70s gear ( finances ) when the NRs were big, but I had my baggy jeans, boot trainers & mullet with the best of them when I had my own few bob in the mid80s.

Didn't they wear Pixie boots, is that what they were called? I was a Mod in the days of The Jam and Secret Affair, and Ska, witht he Special ands Madness.

I tried to be yes - though I was very young in the day's of Spandeau Ballet, people still copied the looks in the late 1980s and even into the early to middle of the 190s!

For the guys - it was

* Farrar Trousers
* Ben Sherman Shirt (later on) or say a cool looking Polo Shirt like a B.S one
* Snooker style waistcoat
* A Slim-Jim Tie
* Plain-ish Trainers ... and like a saude Blazer too at times
