    Um Bongo

    Anyone else remember the cartoon advert for the fruit juice drink Um Bongo? It had the funkiest song to go with it (well, funky to an 80's school kid). Think it went:


    Way down deep in the middle of the Congo,
    A hippo took an apricot, a guava and a mango.
    He stuck it with the others and he danced a dainty tango.
    The rhino said, "I know, we'll call it Um Bongo"

    Um Bongo, Um Bongo, They drink it in the Congo.

    The python picked the passion fruit, the marmoset the mandarin.
    The parrot painted packets that the whole caboodle landed in.
    So when it comes to sun and fun and goodness in the jungle,
    They all prefer the sunny funny one they call Um Bongo!

    Yeah that that was a kool advert, wasn't there a kids fruit drink similar called 'Moonshine' too?

          mind you ive not seen it over here.

            Loved umbongo, the colourful pakaging was very appealing as a kid. Does anyone remember Umognob? It was a different version but didn't last that long I don't think : )

              I quite liked 'Moonshine'. It was a mixed berry flavoured drink.
              Was never quite so keen on 'Um Bongo', and I can't necessarily believe that they drink it in the Congo.

              ...............Although I might be wrong! I've never been there.

                That second link's been removed SCS, what was it? I'll forever think of this Fast Show sketch whenever I hear anyone mention Umbongo.

                  It's back!Asda are selling 3 of the little cartons for £1.I think it tastes slightly different though!
