  • Mr Outraged from Devon

    Is nothing sacred!!

In the early 80's we had a tuck shop at school, me and the gang (not in the 21st century style of gang) but more in the Billy Bunter chums style. Used to always buy Polo mints from the tuck at lunch time.

Anyway to cut a long story short by about 32 year (jeez where did that go?) My wife purchased a said packet of Polos. Packaging as I remembered so I thought haaa all is right with this little bit of the world.
I took one suck on one and right away it was far less minty, far less sugary and no where near as hard as they where.

Infact they where just a mild minty chalky dissapointment!!

They seem to be a little less minty to me these days but perhaps thats because I eat a few stronger mints which I was not allowed as a kid.Perhaps its that when I used to eat them as a kid they were just another new thing to me and seemed strong at the time. They used to go a little soft if the packets were left open or just a little old.The last polos I had seemed fairly consistent with what I remembered hardness and texture wise.
