  • Endloaf

Anyone out there know what Mother meant when you were sent to the shop for bread and were told sternly.."And don't bring me an endloaf" seemed I often did because on arriving home I was told to go back with my message and "tell that shopkeeper not to give you another endloaf..."what was an endloaf and how could you tell the difference...?

I think the endloaf is just that..it's mostly bread with more than two "ends" in it....I hate eating the end pieces I will throw them away. I know why your mom didn't want it

We call them "crusts" but I've only ever seen them at either side of a sliced pan. They're like cardboard.

This refers to bread baked in long pans (loaves lined up side by side), so unless you
got an end loaf, the bread had crust on only the top and bottom.
