  • Defunct sweets?

During the mid 1960's Iam sure whilst on holiday in Cornwall that I bought a bag of Mintesers. does anyone else recall these? I seem to recall they were in a green bag instead of the red ones you get maltesers in. Or is my memory playing tricks<

Never heard of 'em fourteen85 but I can imagine them. If they were on the go once, why aren't they still and if not, hey, it's an idea.....

on a completely different topic, my dad once bought a can of polo holes. It was like a coke can but it had the polo logo and was just an empty sealed drink can. I believed it really was full of holes too!

Who remembers Texan bars? I remember them from when I was 5-7 I suppose so 79-81 It was a about the size of 13cm x 5cm and made of toffee covered with chocolate (I think). All I remember was that at that age it took about 20 minutes to eat . I only had one or two ever as I think my Mum was scared of the damage is would do to my teeth.

Does anyone remember Cabana bars? They were in a blue packet and they were a coconut bar with bits of cherry wedged in the coconut with a layer of runny toffee on top all covered in chocolate. They were delicious. Also, on the subject of coconut, why did Revels do away with the chocolate covered coconut balls and replace them with those boring raisins instead? Still on the coconut trail, does anyone remember coconut Boosts? I think they were the first edition of Boost and the best in my eyes - better than the boring biscuit ones that are out now. Oh God, I'm on a roll, remember Star Bars? They were like Boosts but had peanut butter in the centre instead.

I used to love Cabana bars, wish they still did them. My wife is always on about Mint Maltesers, I don't remember them at all but she says they were nice. I've just found an old fashioned sweet shop in Lowestoft where you can buy all sorts of goodies, Sweet Tobacco, Licquorice Wood, Rainbow Crystals, Coconut Chips etc etc

I don't remember Mint Maltesers but wish I did - they must have been a limited edition. I remember Treats though - I think you could have nut ones and toffee ones.

I remember Smarties that had faces on them! They were limited edition packs wioth green smarties in that had little funny faces on them. I think you had to collect the caps to get a smartie purse thing.

                        I loved Cabana bars, too.

While I'm on the subject, has anyone noticed that "Fuse" bars seem to have disappeared? I haven't seen any for a while, anyway.

Nah, they haven't have they? When I first travelled India I took a load of Fuse bars and ate them all in Delhi on my first day .. figured they would melt in the heat ...

None of the "old" food tastes the same anymore does it? I had Space Food Sticks & Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs a while back and they are not like I remember at all.
