During the early 1970s Mars chocolate bars (and I'm guessing other varieties from the companies range) had a small square on each wrapper displaying a letter of the alphabet. I have seen examples of this on packaging photos on this site. I seem to recall that the letters were to be cut out and pasted onto a promotional leaflet to make words or sentances and sent away to either win, or just to be entered into a competition draw. (This may have had some time on with a major sports event, ie Olympics or World Cup football). Any further info would be welcome!
