I was interested in UFOs for a few years after finding an Usboure book on them in the school library.

I lost interest when anything unusual became classed as a "conspiracy" in the mid 1990s, around the time the X-files was on the TV.

Anyone see that very good footage of a large vertical cylinder caught on a Police Helicopters heat signature camera in Brighton about 10 - 16 years ago? They followed it fairly out to see and the heat coming off the bottom displayed as pure white - meaning it was super hot at the bottom. It them sped off at super speed and the Police crew went back inland. The only way I can describe it is that it was like a large oil drum but smooth all over - no ridges or seams etc. Very odd but very clear footage unlike most films of 'UFOS'...I think I saw it on either a UFO programme or Police, Camera, Action funnily enough...

So is it aliens or ghosts? I thought it was aliens, then the bit at the end saying that ethereal wolves were running about the shop and that a portal had opened and had no idea wtf was going on.

Hmm...I'm not convinced. Trouble is it is far too easy to fake images these days. That said, I'm still interested in UFO stories old and new. I like to check out the 'UK UFO' forum which has quite a few old sightings listed so it might be worth a search there. It also has a plethora of new ones but I can't figure out why I haven't encountered all of these weird and wonderful things that others are supposedly seeing on a daily basis!

Someone once told me the more you believe the more of a chance you have to see these things. It's a bit like ghosts.Could be in some cases hightened awareness and mind over matter,or simply seeing something quite normal and it appears anything but. Many UFO spotters over Warminster had many a good story to tell of what they had seen and witnessed, often it was not witnessed by anyone else in the group just a single person maybe two people out of a group of 10-20 people or remarkebly diffrent accounts were given of the same thing.Do we believe in something when only two out of twenty people see something and they are all looking in the same direction at the same piece of sky?Why did they not tell the rest of the group and why are there not 20 accounts instead of just the one or two.UFO spotting was the same as twitching, who could see the best or the most,or the most fantastic story. This was my problem with the Warminster thing when I lived there or rather the reports of it.

Like you I don't believe in all the modern footage and photo's.Digital is all too easy to manipulate on a home pc.

I feel there is certainly something out there, either from another place or at least another time if the place remains the same, after all I did see a silver cigar when I was a child back in the 70's.But the problem will always be filtering the wheat from the chaff and getting to the bottom of the mystery which is what a lot of people have been trying to do for years.

I think a lot of the Warminster goings on were actually M.O.D. experiments into some form of sound/sonic/psychological warfare - it is an army town afterall...

Maybe some things were real paranormal/UFO cases and perhaps thats what led the M.O.D. to use it as a smokescreen for their tests back then? I do believe in ghosts, demons, devils and especially UFO's - the arrogance that some sceptics have that we are the only form of higher intelligence in a universe thats only been hypothetically propounded on in terms of when it began, how, 'why?' or how big it is - how its apparently expanding etc - its all conjecture...especially the so called 'big bang' theory - unless time travel is invented akin to Dr Who or other Sci Fi shows then we will never really know. So, it goes without saying that there is life out there - they probably don't like us as a race, I mean, look at the pettiness of humanity - war, racism, poverty, inequality, greed etc, etc - who'd want to risk that being let loose on their worlds?! I feel that they shouldn't try to make public contact - it'd only lead to new forms of racism, perhaps half breeds treated badly if inter mixing were to somehow occur, America for one would definitely try to manipulate another extraterrestrial world power for sure - they are like that with the Middle East!

Either that, or it would be some H.G. Wells scenario of destruction and doom for us....like someone else says here, animals are far more loyal and loving, I for one have no faith in humanity really and another form of life coming here would only lead to some form of doom - for them or for us.

Well, thats my two pence worth...also, I certainly wouldn't like to see a UFO - it'd scare the poo out of me! Or a ghost! (My parents have seen ghosts though!)

The thing is far too much time has gone since the original reports and now to say too much about the events of the time. There are plenty of witnesses still around but I doubt if the truth of what they actually saw will be somehow altered by false memories or elaboration. The ufo researcher I knew from Warminster(moved away from the area in the 1990's) stated he destroyed his diarys of the time that he was sky watching from star hill years earlier,he did not say why but did tell me he was much younger then and more likely to jump to conclusions which could be a reason or perhaps had false or hoax sighting written in there. He did say that he witnessed some strange stuff going on but did not fully open up to what he had seen or done on those nights out except for the ambler gambler that followed him on his bike which he would always tell me happily.I lived with him and his wife for a couple of years before I found a place of my own. It's not long after that he moved from the area never to be seen again. When I first met him he was pretty much a drop out living by what ever means he could but he eventually found work as many people did in the town with the MOD.I think he eventually moved to take a better job else where with them. Most of the info he passed on was before he started work with the MOD.After that I only saw him once more before he moved with his wife.
The strange thing I noticed not long before I moved from the area myself was at a pub one night we saw some of those rave lights that can bounce back off the clouds at night, you know the ones that circle around. Some of the older locals jumped straight to the conclusion that they were ufo's back to haunt them.I was a bit taken back myself as these were the first high powered rave lights I had seen myself at that time.In more recent times these balloon lamps have been responsable for a lot of miss sightings and these always get a lot of people confused but years ago these were quite rare sightings in the uk themselves and were usually home made balloons like the ones I used to make with my neighbour less then 15 years ago.Heck we even attempted to hang glow sticks from them and even taped them around the lower rim of the balloon to see if we could get any reports.I have to admit that a couple of reports that have been seen on the internet in recent years from our area do appear to be of these fancy oriental balloons that carry candles.

I have come across another local report a few years ago(2001) at Semington just outside of my hometown of a silver cigar shaped object so perhaps the Warminster triangle is still active at times.Wonder if there are still watchers on the hills out there today?

There is no harm in keeping an open mind on any subject as it is in itself a part of the learning process.

A few New Years ago I remember some people going nuts in our street about "UFO's". I went out amid the speculation and saw it was a Chinese lantern. So much hype over such a minor thing.
