ahh the Airfix Pontoon Bridge Assault Set....happy days!

I grew up in the countryside, and we used the boats/pontoons (that supported the bridge) in games of 'Pooh sticks' in nearby streams

As a young lad with a growing interest in the female form I used to really look forward to the new Freeman's catalogue with page after page of fit young women in their underwear. An added bonus was if the old one got chucked out and somehow found its way to my room as scrap paper or something. Really surprised one time to see a picture of a half-cup bra (think that's the term?) with the model effectively topless, if you get my drift. Probably no one would bat an eyelid nowadays, but this seemed pretty amazing in a "family" catalogue way back in about 1970.

What gets me are the prices. Compared to today it all seems so cheap. But, bearng in mind that v.a.t. (I think!) was relatively new in the 1970s and that the relative value is probably just about the same today....

Action Man for 3.45p? Nice! I had that Casdon til long gone now, and I've still got me Cheriliea Army Jeep with Trailer.....it cost about that sort of a price even in 1981 when my Mum got it for me for Xmas....(Father Christmas?! Pah! Mums know best!)....

Wish things cost those prices today.....

I saw a 1981 Traffords catalogue for sale on eBay a while back and was tempted to buy it but it went for a few quid more than I wanted to pay.

That Argos catelogue is cool! Any more pages to share?

...although some of these can cost an arm and a leg now,you can pick up the odd scanned versions on Cd.I got a couple of these recently..

Wow I've been searching for some old catalogues for ages. The CD scans sound perfect, where did you get them from please? If they are not available still could I buy a copy of them (pretty) please?

Wow! These are amazing pictures that take me right back. Even seeing the Ideal logo has transported me. I had lots of those toys. I adored my ballerina Sindy and Girls World. I'd love to get my hands on more of those catalogues.

I remember my mother having in the late 1970's catalgues where you had to save up via coupons. They could have been Green Shield. I'm guessing from what other posters have said that there was more than one company doing the voucher scheme?

add to that Green Shield stamps!! that was a long long time ago!!

What about Embassy coupons !!! We used to get loads of stuff from that catalogue. No wonder the walls were yellow at home
