The Chieftains have developed into the world's leading exponents of 'traditional Irish music.
Their latest release, The Long Black Veil features such world class singers as Mick Jagger, Sting and Marianne Faithful. Seamus McKee enjoys the group's music in the company of two of its members - the founder and driving force, Dublin piper Paddy Moloney, and Belfast harper Derek Bell, who left the BBC NI Orchestra in 1974 to play on one album with the band and forgot to return.

The sixth in Radio 2's series of musicals is a new production of Sondheim's magical score, which contains perhaps his best known song - Send in the Clowns. Described by the composer as 'whipped cream with knives', it tells the story of a group of diverse people who converge for a weekend in the country, and explores the ensuing tangled web of relationships. Heading the cast are Keith Michell and Betty Buckley.
