Star artists and guest DJS join Mike Read in reviewing the week's new record releases.
Among the guests joining Mike is Kim Carnes , whose single ' Bette Davis eyes ' is making an impression on the charts. Born in America's starmaking Hollywood, Kim has been singing and writing songs for as long as she can remember. It took some time before she gained success in the States, and it wasn't until her work with Kenny Rogers that she finally received recognition.
The time looks right for a reflection of that success in Britain.

The answers to these questions arrive at Radio 1 less than a couple of hours before Paul's first broadcast of the chart. The British Market
Research Bureau compile the chart from a sample of about 700 retail outlets - from small record shops to department stores - based' on the previous week's sales of records bought over the counter by customers, This is rapidly prepared for its first public airing on today's show and for distribution throughout the BBC and the music industry.

Who's moved up? Who's dropped out? And most important, who's at number one?
The answers to these questions arrive at Radio 1 less than a couple of hours before Paul's first broadcast of the chart. The British Market
Research Bureau compile the chart from a sample of about 700 retail outlets - from small record shops to department stores - based' on the previous week's sales of records bought over the counter by customers, This is rapidly prepared for its first public airing on today's show and for distribution throughout the BBC and the music industry.

This week at University of Bradford with special live band Tenpole Tudor
Cutting a dash into the chart with their single, 'Swords of a thousand men', sporting Tudor battle gear, Tenpole reply with swinging axes to Adam Ant's swashbuckling.
Lead singer Eddie Tenpole (Edward Tudor), surfaced in the Sex Pistols' Great Rock 'n' Roll Swindle film, but shook off the punk role to form Tenpole Tudor, who subsequently charged around Britain, Europe and America on tour. Their show is loud 'n' bouncy with Eddie throwing himself around like an unleashed pogostick - a good time will be had by all.
