    Re: My Dad

Its nice to see it wasnt just my dad who tried to poison us over the years lol.. My dad used to work for McVities and would bring home huge slabs of solid chocolate. he would melt it down and mix in nuts and raisins lol..

When Homepride first brought out their curry sauce in a tin he took to making cornbeef curry !! Still cant look at a time of Fray Bentos without thinking of dad lol..

Grab each day, indeed. I lost my Dad to cancer two years ago last November and then my Mum almost exactly a year later and I guess a large part of me being on a board like this is that it takes me back to a time when they were both well and we were all together.

Anyone can be a father, but it takes a great man to be a Dad.
Awww, sorry to hear that you've lost your Dad - I can't imagine life without my parents - You were born the same year as me judging by your username - nearly lost my Dad in 2000 from prostate cancer but luckily (touch wood) he's fine now. The memories will always be inside you though and he'll always be with you in that way

    Re: My Dad

My dad once made us chocolate easter eggs by blowing hen's eggs, and filling them with chocolate. Only thing was, he forgot to wash the eggs out first.

He'd also make us tea, which was basically a tupperware(remember that stuff?) beaker full of half milk, half hot water and the tea strainer with the leaves in, dipped in and out a few times.

Hey my dad was from Liverpool and we lived in East London. I used to get laughed at at school for saying mooshy peas!

Ouch, Aidan are you a standup comedian? Well my dad used treacle.....

The toffee'd be simple enough : boiled brown sugar in butter, no need for treacle or Golden Syrup. The apple bit, simpler still...

On the subject , does being an Everton fan from New York make Sly Stallone a Toffee Apple ?!

Telling me Aidan, the thing I don't understand is where my dad got the ideas from......and home made toffee apples too..........they were so sticky..treacle overload.

So any other things moms or dads have done/made?

    Re: Pops?

Thankfully my Granny was there to stand in for my Mam when needed so I was spared my Dad's culinary delights ! Tried the orange shake meself, a Super Split mashed into a glass of milk. I discovered : milk and citrus don't go together.
I'd say the orange with Andrews got the "traffic moving south", Daz ?
