When I grow up.....

I want to be???

As a child who or what did you dream of becoming? And did you realize that dream? or go on to be something else?

When I was about 3 I wanted to be a Bride
At 10 or 11 it was a Nurse, then in high school a History Teacher, Which was totally unrealistic.As I'm now married I guess 1 outta 3 isn't bad

I wanted to be a Cookery Demonstrator . Went to college, strained my back which put me in bed on a board for six weeks, when I got back to college the headmistress wanted me to start over - and like most stroppy teenagers I said no and walked !! I became a Telephonist for the GPO (fore runner of BT )

i always wanted to be a soldier in the army, at 16 i skived off school to attend the army careers people & got as far as getting a date to go to sutton coldfield for the excercise tests....

but then decided getting a job in a bank was a lot safer

I remember when my daughter Hayley was 4 and she was playing with her friend Nicola who was 5 and lived next door.

I asked what they would like to be when they grew up .
Nicola said she wanted to be a cleaner and Hayley wanted to be an ice cream man !!!

They are now 22 and 21 .

Hayley is training to be a midwife and Nicola is a florist.

So things turned out well huh Buzz, but what about you?

My daughter 6 wants to be a ballet dancer (she just passed her primary grade 1 and is taking grade 2 next month) so who knows!!!
And my son (4) wants to be Spiderman

Growing up having programs like Starsky and Hutch and The Professionals as my favourites, I wanted to be a policeman. I never took it further than thinking about it, although i did spend a couple of years working for the police as a civilian.

Well very cliched me ...........

Always wanted to be a footballer ........ Just ate slept and drank it (just like the advert) til 11 ....... when I kinda realised it wasn't gonna happen.

Wanted to be a Forensic scientist after that - always interested me - still does - but there you go life got in the way.

Tried for the Police force as a plod (17) - but at the time there were height restrictions in Notts (not allowed to do that now !) - because Notts was very popular they could raise the bar and I was 1/2 inch too short (no comments please)- Now due to Gun city culture I think they'd take me - good target practice

I think I also wanted to be an Astronaut, didn't make it though, just spent (and still do) most of my time with my head in the clouds.

I never really had a big idea of what I wanted to do when I left school, still don't and I left nearly 20 years ago!

I sort of half got there. I draw silly stuff for video games but not silly stuff for comics :cry:

i always wanted to be a vet, then saw that you had to do operations, then a rspca officer but then saw the cruelity, i then done a couple of office jobs got bored out my head so became a coach driver, bit of a surprise to all that knew me as im only small

I wanted to be a waitress in a cafe when I was about 4 then I wanted to be a teacher. I am now almost 23 and at university without a clue what I want to be when I grow up hehe.

I can remember getting Fish and Chips on a Friday night and I wanted to work there with all the delicious smells and the way they wrapped the fish and chips.... I used to practice for hours with newspaper......

For 12 years I lived and breathed ballet... then an unfortunate incident with a trapdoor resulted in my dreams being smashed along with both big toes.... then it was translator for the UN.... but I ended up becoming an RNMH.. registered nurse mntal handicap.... not to b confused with the poor unfortunates who train in uni now and become RNLD.... next dream.... the countrys first specialist cafe for breast feeding moms and their families
