I can remember getting my Mum Wade Whimsies.. which were hideous, and barely resembled the animals they were meant to be.
I have no doubt now that she never actually collected them, we just bought them as they were pocket money priced & thought she'd like 'em.
If she'd have said "God, that's hideous", we would never have bought anymore, but Mum's never say that.
Bit like going to dinner at a person's house who is not that great a cook, and telling them the "insert dinner" was great..
You'll get it every time you eat there again.. forever

    LOL

My Mum collected lilliput lane cottages at one time, but people started to buy her the cheap nasty rip offs

My other Nan use to have quite a few big shire horse with brass chains pulling carts, in her window, anyone remember them?

Nan's were (are I've got 'em upstairs) home made war relics. Two money boxes, two spillcups and two minature hearth fenders - the money boxes and spill cups made from bomb shells -or gun shells ?? about 8 " long and an inch and a half in diameter

    So did my Mum.
    horse brasses, coal buckets, etc..
however, there is good bad taste & bad bad taste.
Just because someone collects brass, does not mean they would want two brass frogs sitting on a brass bench, as one ex-girlfriend once bought my Mum.
I had to politely tell her it really wasn't my Mum's thing

My Nan loved her brass, she had it hung around and placed on her fire place
