  • Ray Harryhausen

Who can forget seeing those animated skeleton warriors for the first time in Jason and the Argonauts? Movies were lots of fun back in the pre-CGI days and Harryhausen was a genius! RIP. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-22441567

I just love his work.Earth vs the flying saucers,Ymir from 20 million miles to earth,Mighty Joe Young, and the giant octopus from It came from beneath the sea, amongst all those other wonderful stop animation pieces he done for so many great films. He influenced so many other people in the film business and opened our eyes as a child to so many wonderful things.Harry was such a legend and will be missed by many sci fi and fantasy fans.

I remember seeing Mysterious Island as a kid, and marvelling at the giant crab, bird and bees. Jason and the Argonauts was another gem, especially the army of skeletons.

yes the army of skeletons was amazing to watch and still is today, even though by todays standards the animation is so basic

              Thanks for posting that clip!

The Evil Dead III (Army of Darkness) was an extended tribute to this scene, even down to the evil shape of the eye-sockets.

Excellent clip.Must of taken weeks of work to get it just right.Still impressive after all these years.

One of his most loved characters must be Bubo the owl from clash of the titans.

Indeed. And I loved the cameo in the remake, where they find the owl in a chest.
