Such an influential artist of the 80s, he is best remembered as designing the creatures and various sets in the film ALIEN (1979). I remember many computer games were inspired by his Xenomorph designs too (R-Type).

My first introduction to Giger's nightmarish but compelling art was when I bought ELP's stunning album Brain Salad Surgery. Still have my cherished vinyl copy some 40 years on!
