Robin Hardy, the director of one of the most iconic British movies of all time (and a personal favourite of mine) - The Wicker Man, has died at the age of 86.
He never repeated the success of The Wicker Man, although I did enjoy the belated sequel The Wicker Tree in 2011. He was, apparently planning a third instalment, as a tribute to Christopher Lee, who starred in the original and played a cameo in the sequel.
Thank you Robin for inventing the very British genre of pagan folk horror.
